Dr. Gary Gruber has enjoyed a long and rewarding career in education and consulting. He co-authored Understanding & Enjoying Adolescence (1988) wrote Seven Decades: A Learning Memoir (2013) and Your Child, Your Choice: Finding the Right School for Your Child."(2014). His book, Pearls From An Irritated Mind (2018) , was a birthday gift to himself and his family.
Gary began his professional career as a teacher/pastor in two churches, left those in 1969 and following four more years in graduate school continued teaching and counseling before serving as principal and head of several, independent schools. He taught graduate students and 3rd year residents in family medicine in a hospital and was a member of the faculty and administration of Choate Rosemary Hall. He was the founding head of Bosque School in Albuquerque, NM, which opened in 1995. https://www.bosqueschool.org/about/our-history
As the founder of a non-profit organization, the Southwest Institute for Educational Research and Professional Teacher Development, Gary was instrumental in that entity's evolution into The Santa Fe Leadership Center. That consulting group merged with “Leading is Learning” to produce the current organization known as Leadership and Design. He served on the original boards of all three groups and is currently "Resident Rebel" for Leadership and Design.
Gary's current work is a part-time practice in Creative Planning for Individuals and Organizations wanting to design change for a better future. There's a page on this web site with more information and details.
Gary and his wife, Susan Richardson, live at Rancho Los Labradores, in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. They are the parents, and step-parents, of seven adult children and enjoy their fourteen grandchildren.
